How We Help?

Creating Win:Win

Launchpad provides a unique solution to help school leavers into professional careers. Students are placed into entry-level office administration positions for a period of 12 months and have the opportunity to take part in tertiary training that compliments the skills being taught in the workplace. Community conscious employers from all sectors including legal, accounting, finance and banking as well as many others are committed to the Launchpad concept.

Making Recruitment Easy

It is easy for a business to recruit a Launchpad student, a phone call to the Launchpad office to explain an outline of the position is all it takes to activate the process. Our co-ordinators take responsibility for finding, interviewing and selecting suitable candidates. Several candidates with the required attributes will be submitted to the business for interview and the business makes the final selection. The Launchpad co-ordinator plays a critical role in liaising and supporting the parties through to the end of the twelve month assignment.

Making The Grade

Students who wish to take up a Launchpad position must really want to be involved and must demonstrate the right attitude and desire to succeed. They come from all walks of life, have a range of skills but will all share a goal to improve their knowledge in a supportive environment. Criteria for selection include:

  • A positive attitude
  • Good presentation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • A good standard in Maths and English understanding
  • A genuine desire to gain tertiary qualifications
  • Tenacity to combine full-time work with part-time study

Learning and Earning

The Launchpad experience may include compulsory attendance at business administration courses with a local tertiary provider. Such courses typically cover office administration, financial, communication and computing for 4 hours each week, with completion resulting in a certificate of achievement. Classes may be held during work time.

Each Launchpad employer is asked to assign a supervisor to oversee completion of any in-house training requisite – for instance the Launchpad workbook. The workbook has been developed in consultation with employers and provides a written record of practical skills gained throughout the assignment.

Launchpad recipients are required to undertake independent learning. This encompasses completing one additional section from options at the end of the workbook.
